The Helitronix Onboard Tachometer is a device that mounts inside the helicopter and uses the included optical sensor or your existing hall-effect sensor or Stator Gator to measure the RPM of the rotor head. Rather than transmit this information wirelessly to a display module, as done with the Helitronix Wireless RF-Tach, this unit incorporates the display right into the unit itself. Using an auxiliary receiver channel, the pilot can instruct the tachometer to sample and hold the current RPM reading until the switch is returned to the previous position. To read the rotor RPM, just land and look at the large 4-digit display.
Pilots using this device can now obtain accurate rotor head speed at any point in their flight routine. Simply take a snap-shot of the RPM reading from a switch on your transmitter to record the rotor speed. This unit operates much the same as the Wireless RF-Tach. Configure the module with the appropriate gear ratio for your mechanics, mount the sensor so that it is aimed at any convenient rotating part inside the helicopter, and plug it into an auxiliary channel of the receiver.
